New Zealand is currently going through a period of increased Indian immigration. Since Labour introduced tougher English language requirements for immigrants, East Asian immigration has slowed and the number of Indian arrivals is on the increase.
I don’t know a lot about Indian culture (which is notoriously complex) but I am concerned about India’s population levels.
In comparison with China, India’s birth rates are still very high and I think New Zealand and other western nations need to be cautious about increasing the level of sub-continental immigration at the present time.

Your post does not explain the correlation between India's high birth rate vis-a-vis why western countries like NZ should be cautious about Indian immigration.
Indian immigrants have only helped the receiving economies with their work ethics, hard work, high savings rate and family values. And there is enough data on the Internet which documents Indians' contribution to leading economies like the US and the UK.
India has registered 8% - 9% growth in the last five years, and it will remain at that level for the next 20-30 years. Two-thirds of India are projected to be urban by 2040, which means most Indians will choose to stay back in India. In the knowledge era of the 21st century, leading markets will compete for competent manpower, and no prizes for guessing which economies will come out winners!
I don't understand what a high birth rate in India has to do with seeking talented, hard working and skilled migrants from the sub-continent unless there's a racist dogwhistling subtext intended here. Other western nations are certainly not being cautious in admitting Indian graduates from the IT, engineering and pure science sectors. A consequence of raising the bar on English language aptitude as a criteria for migrating to NZ is that more applicants from India will be accepted because after all India is an English speaking country. Bring them on, I say. Let's also not overlook the fact that Indians have been New Zealanders since the mid 1800s.

I am not saying high Indian birth rates are a problem for other countries, I am saying they might be a problem.
Certainly, Indian immigrants are filling labour shortages and Indians do tend to be self starters with good English language skills.
However, if India were to suffer some serious enviromental crisis trhough over population, could countries with significant Indian minorities be swamped with large numbers of desperate sub-continental immigrants?
The other issue I have is about extended families. Is the average Indian IT worker happy to come to a western country, and start a small nuclear family without feeling the need to help their grandparents, aunts, cousins getting into the country as well?
The fact some Indian immigrants have returned to India to pursue economic opportunities, suggests this may not be that big a problem, and that growth in India may help reduce the possibility of western nations getting swamped by Indian immigrants.
On the topic of economic competitiveness - skills are one factor, resources are also important.
The US is the world's richest country because it has a relatively smart population and lots of land and resources, which it manages pretty well.
This is something Indian should probably bear in mind if it wants to improve the overall well-being of its population in the coming decades.
Having lots of Indians in my country might do the economy some good, but it's not exactly clear how it helps the community, the sense of culture.
Multiculturalism is a dead loss.

most of the people in the world do not like other people coming into their country. When the white people came to America in swarms, the american indians didnt like it either. nor when the euorpeans went to Asian countries. People have been moving around since forever. Its the market forces that dictate it and there is nothing u can do about it. You probably must learn how to live in the new world. I bet nobody is America is doing a favor by letting the immigrants come in. They get their worth. So stop moaning.
Regarding the culture, every culture has its ups and downs. American culture is no shining armor. Americans have KKK for Gods sakes.
Thousands of Indians flooding in will only result in the massive cultural clash especially the Hindu and Sikh and Muslims with the local population later. The classic example of this is Canada, in Vancouver, East Indian gangs of 1st generation and 2nd generation from India are wrecking havoc there, people of India already have a bad name in Canada. Most of them go around dating white women and other races, when it comes to marriage, they whimp out and go for arranged marriages, in fact Indians are the most racist of all, as they even prohibit interracial marriages. Only a few daring ones non hindus or non sikhs are willing to marry non Indians. They also are not faithful to the country they emigrate to. I am saying this as an insider because I AM an Indian and I myself am disgusted at the attitudes of my so called "countrymen". plus not to forget, India is divided into diverse ethnic groups and races. In Canada there is plenty of tensions, just google indo Canadian gangs, and you will see what I mean. in Malaysia they are beginning to fight with the natives, in West indies, and fiji there are tensions building up. The best place for hindus is india. Nothing more nothing less. Immigration from middle east and India should be strictly limited, either you assimilate or you get lost. Yes, I am Indian, and to indian readers "bas, desh drohi nahi hoon, lekin sacchi baat keh raha hoon" "i am not a traitor, i am only saying the truth".
Women are treated like 2nd class garbage in Indian homes, the concept of arranged marriages etc are age old cattle/slave trading practices, Indians in new zealand who are married to non Indians often get racist comments from their own fellow Indians.
India got its I.T all because United states dumped it all on it, other than that what good is India at ? if U.S collapses in its economy India is finished. They need to control their population, they need to OPEN UP their 300 year old backward thinking and move on.

Don't let Indians in..... drive them out cause they will ruin your country ............unfortunately, that's not the truth.........immigrant indians (the educated & cultured ones)....are far more polished than the the native "WHITE TRASH"..... well I'm not debating the fact that the 1st and 2nd generations out there make absolute fools out of them selves...... But coming to think of it...... educated Indians are a big big plus for any country's economy.........and there is no way one can debate that.
