With a lot of talk these days about "western values" tests for non-western immigrants, I thought I might offer a few brief pointers for understanding the confusing western politics called liberalism:
- western countries pollute the atmosphere bad, non-western countries pollute the atmosphere ok
- environmental degradation bad, increased immigration and population growth good
- roads bad, buses good
- consumption good, mining and manufacturing bad
- diversity of cultures good, diversity of political views bad
- ethnicity based statistics mentioned in right-wing news bad, ethnicity based stats mentioned in left-wing news good
- blacks voting for black presidential candidate not racist, whites voting for white presidential candidate racist.
- blacks and browns opposed to homosexuality good, whites opposed to homosexuality bad.
-Muslim sexism good, Christian sexism bad
- objectifying women bad, pornography good
- women doing arts degrees good, women getting paid less bad
- more people at university good, rising tuition costs and populist courses bad
- indigenous paternalism good, western paternalism bad
- white trash music (heavy metal/country) crap, black trash music (gansta rap) good
- East Asian immigration restrictionism ok, Western immigration restrictionism bad
- white Eastern Europeans persecuting minorities bad, black Africans persecuting minorities not so bad.
- non-white ethno-centric parties ok, white ethno-centric parties=nazis
- nationalist holocaust evil, communist holocaust not so bad.
- painting your country's flag on your face and shouting out its name, good, being concerned with your country's long-term viability bad.
- IQ testing for criminals and learning disabled accurate, IQ testing for school students and job applicants not accurate
- anti-christian evolutionary ideas good, conservative evolutionary ideas bad
- people dependent on the state good, state imposing conditions on behaviour of welfare recipients bad
- meritocracy good, tough academic standards bad.

1) In a conflict between Western (Christendom) vs. non-Western (Islam), the liberal always chooses the side of non-Western.
2) In a conflict between the majority/dominant group (men, whites) and minority/weaker group (women, blacks), the liberal always chooses the side of the minority//weaker group.
3) If there's conflict between non-Western (blacks) and the minority/weaker group (gays), the liberal is innerly conflicted and doesn't know what to do.

I think there is a hierarchy even among the 'oppressed' (at least in the US). Blacks are on top (look how much focus was put on Obama's blackness, while Bill Richardson, who presumably could've been the first Hispanic president, received virtually no attention at all for his race/ethnicity). Also, Obama's blackness clearly trumped Hillary's feminism. Hispanics still beat out white women though, and so do gays. Heterosexual WASPs are at the very bottom.

Indeed, it's become more nuanced these days, it has to do with the inner conflict of the liberal.
In older times the proletarian 'worker' (low class) used to be the victim of the bourgeoisie (middle class). Nowadays, these 'workers' are known as White racist bigot nativists who are dangerous to everyone around them.
In the late 90s, feminism backslided big time, same goes for Muslims after 9/11. Suddenly, they weren't super-victims anymore, but respectively man-eating bitches/ whiners and religious fanatics -- if not possible terrorists!
But sometimes odds are pretty equal. For example, white women are comparable to Hispanic men. They are both oppressor (men, White) and victim (women, non-White). So they are equally 'good' and 'bad'.
Btw, I wouldn't count on Muslims to remain bad in PC discourse. One of the consequences of the Iraq-war et al may be that Muslims will rebound as super-victims for polite society, one of the chosen few who can never do wrong.
